From creepy skeletons hanging in the trees, to
the warm flickering light emanating from the face of a Jack-o-lantern, we know
our favorite spooky season is here, and “Devil’s Night” is just around the
corner. It’s time to turn our attention to parties, pranks, and crazy costumes
as the celebration nears.
Most families use this season to bond with one
another by celebrating in a fun and creative way. Some
families even plan out all their costumes as characters from a movie, or tv show. Even kids can enjoy dressing up as their favorite cartoon characters, or their admired superhero and parade around town, showing off their fancy costumes as they go door-to-door and say “Trick-or-Treat!”.

Choosing a
Costume
To stand out above the crowd of intricate and
sometimes complex costumes, means to spend a good deal of time and preparation.
Most costumes commonly imitate other costumes in one way or another. However,
it’s the costume that flares, flashes, and screams louder than the competition
that gets noticed. With all the competitions, challenges, and chances to flaunt
your novel attire, comes a lot of pressure to put together the best ensemble.
Hats, props, and other accessories can assist in a big way the impression your
costume makes on the crowds.
Halloween themes vary greatly some will make
you cringe and scream, others will have you laughing to death. Adults and teens
tend to stray towards the more maturely themed costumes like Twilight, Zombies,
Werewolves. While the younger crowds set trends with such themes as Mighty
Morphin Power Rangers, The Muppets, and Superhero costumes.
If you’re planning costumes for your family or
a few friends, deciding on a theme might save a lot of time. As a family you
might want to focus on a theme that will allow each member to don an outfit
relative to the theme. For example, my wife and 3 kids and I will be using
Disney characters for our costume theme this Halloween. My wife and I will be
Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and our 3 boys will be Huey, Dewey, and Louis,
Donald Duck’s nephews. On the other hand, My friend and I are going to the
Halloween party as Tweedledee and Tweedledum from Alice’s Adventure in
Wonderland.
For a more uncommon approach, use a theme not
seen a lot during Halloween, like Battlestar Galactica, The Lord of the Rings,
Star Wars, Star Trek, or even Pirates of The Caribbean. An intricate and
complex Legolas costume will catch eyes faster than a cheap plastic Darth Vader
costume. Time and planning ahead will get your costume noticed this Halloween.
As fun and exciting as Halloween is, costumes
make the occasion that much more interesting and enjoyable. Some families
choose to purchase their costumes from a store, and others prefer to make their
costumes at home. There’s a feeling of personal satisfaction you get when
wearing a costume you made at home, although, most stores carry a wide variety
of costumes to accommodate those without the time to make their own costumes.
I personally like to buy my costumes at halloweencostumesn.com for me and all my family.

No matter what the theme, or where your
costume came from, YOU make the costume a success in the way you carry yourself
and the way you accessorize.
